Certificate IV IN Emergency Medical
Response- National Code 30245 QLD
TARGET AUDIENCE:
This Emergency Medical Technician program is designed for participants
wishing to gain a Certificate IV in Emergency Medical Response equipping
them with advanced medical skills
and knowledge. The course is especially suited for first responders,
mine rescue, firefighters, road rescue, remote resort dive & tour
operations, ship's masters and security personnel.
PREREQUISITES:
Workplace Emergency Care
(Senior First Aid) or equivalent
COMPETENCIES GAINED :

Assess the situation, provide basic care, manage
life threatening emergencies (Life Support/CPR)

Utilise management skills to prioritise emergency
action and manage road accidents |

Identify and manage acute illness. |
 |
Prevent, identify, manage burns and exposure to
extreme temperatures. |

Identify, manage bleeding, wounds, eye injuries. |

Identify, manage bites, stings and poisoning. |
 |
Identify, manage bone, joint, chest, abdominal
injuries. |
 |
Orientation to emergency medical care |
 |
Preform health assessment practice for application
in the emergency medical services system |
 |
Assess and deliver medical care to casualties |
 |
Move and lift casualties |
 |
Evaluate the need for oxygen and artificial
ventilation and establish and maintain an airway |
 |
Undertake initial emergency medical assessment and
comprehensive examination of a casualty, document results |
 |
Assist the casualty with self administration of
medications within the role and responsibilities of an emergency
medical technician |
 |
Recognise and manage respiratory and cardiovascular
emergencies, diabetes and altered mental states and allergies |
 |
Prevent, identify and manage poisoning and overdose
medical emergencies |
 |
Prevent, identify and manage environmental
emergencies |
 |
Recognise and manage bleeding and shock and soft
tissue injuries. |
 |
Recognise, manage musculoskeletal injuries, head,
spinal injuries |
 |
Undertake advanced airway management |
 |
Undertake intravenous fluid therapy under medical direction. |
 |
Manage multiple casualty incidents using triage. |
